  1. I love how you called it “the thing”. I use “the thing” very often, and not surprisingly, my American friends have gotten used to it :D

Anyway, that is a very good looking “thing”. And I had fun giggling, no, reading the typed blog post.

    Have fun with it! :D

  2. Thank you! And glad you enjoyed it! I was actually wondering whether anyone would actually be able to read this note because of the faded ink. I just got a new ink ribbon today and there’s a world of difference.

  3. Very, very cool. I like how you typed your post on the typewriter and scanned it. :) Google will never see it, but hey, who cares. Still very cool!

And by the way, I found the legibility to be fine. The typos and corrections added character.

  4. Too Cool :)

  5. Happy Virgin Typecast! I love these old machines, even the ones that get finicky and cost me a little. Or a lot.

You;ll be an addict now because, well, it just happens like that.

Hi! I’ve just ordered a Smith-Corona Silent-Super as well. I was just wondering whether the standard typewriter ink ribbon works fine?

  7. Yes. There are people online, however, that will sell ribbons specifically for Smith-Coronas. I’m not quite sure the name right now. You may want to join the Yahoo! Group “Portable Typewriter Forum”. Very good source of typewriter related info, including suppliers, parts, and general lore.
