There and Back Again

Topic(s): Life, Observations

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Oh the shame to come.

That’s right folks, it happened again. Somehow I was dragged out to the place I least enjoy yet find myself visiting the most. The mall.

Now I know that there are a lot of events going on in the world today such as the passing of a great former president and the execution of a foreign dictator. It almost seems kind of trivial and a little irresponsible to ignore this groundbreaking news to write about something so…average.

However I believe that the world will get enough coverage on these topics without my commenting upon it. There are a lot of better informed people who could talk endlessly about the facts and opinions regarding these events so they would be the ones to seek out for articles relating to these topics.

Do I choose to ignore theses occurrences? No, but I am twenty years old and the world looks like its falling apart in front of me. All I want for a few weeks during my winter break is to enjoy these magic moments with those who matter the most to me. My friends and family. No matter what insanity is going on the world, no matter what depressing news comes your way, there is always someone in your family who can lift your spirits and remind you that in the end, everything will be just fine.

Anyway, back to the point of this article.

A Father’s Shadow

Topic(s): Life, Movies and Music, Observations, Personal Development, Quotes

Twice have I gone to the theater to see the new film The Pursuit of Happyness and twice have I failed to get tickets. It’s the strangest phenomenon. The shows would be available while we are there on line, but would be sold out while we are just a few people away from acquiring our tickets. It wouldn’t just be the timing we wanted to see but also any showing within a reasonable time to wait for it.

If you haven’t heard about the movie, it seems to be doing rather well. I am not too familiar with the storyline, but I believe it is about a man and his son who are overcoming life’s obstacles after having suffered some kind of loss. I really can’t get any more specific (or generic) than that.

Now since I haven’t seen that movie, I can’t write about the impression the father made upon the son in his ability to always look ahead and set an example for the young one to follow. Instead I shall talk about the movie I did see when this one became unavailable the first time: Rocky Balboa.

Time to Think

Topic(s): Florida Living, Life, Observations

Have you ever been so completely disoriented in life that it caused your mind to feel like it was imploding? What happened to enjoying a childlike innocence on your perspective of life as you naively walked through a valley of flowers and candy canes? I suppose everyone has to grow up eventually and hit the milestone in life known as the mental breakdown, I just didn’t think it would happen to me at the ripe young age of twenty.

A Date Which Will Live in Infamy

Topic(s): Observations

I’m still a bit under the wheather, so I won’t get into a historical diatribe here (besides, there are better people to do it than I). Instead, I simply implore you reading this to never forget.

A history of the attacks at Pearl Harbor.

MP3 audio of Franklin Roosevelt’s “Day of Infamy” speech.
