I found a couple of pretty interesting links today, some on my own and some sent to me. I figured I’d share. Good stuff, even they don’t end up on the Links page.
######
Mortal Kombat vs. Street Fighter 2: Nice little flash movie where Ryu and Scorpion duke it out. Awesome fighting scenes, including 14-hit combos, fatalities, and a surprise ending. (Thanks to Trapp for this link.)
######
BlogMaverick: Success & Motivation - Redux: Mark Cuban, owner of the NBA Dallas Mavericks, the IceRocket search engine, and entrepreneur extraordinaire shares a few of his favorite stories outlining how he got to where he is today. A lot of gold nuggets for anyone who dreams (and doesn’t just wish) about owning a business and becoming mega-wealthy.
######
Yet Another Flash Game: This game is quite possibly one of the strangest games I’ve ever played. You’re this guy, living in an asteroid and (I guess) you’re trying to stop another asteroid from crashing into yours. Pretty addictive, if you have the patience. (I can get to about the 7th board before my eyes start bleeding.) Someone had to be on something when they wrote this.
######
Sock Master’s Video Game Controller Family Tree: How did the current home-console controllers come to be? How have they evolved? You may have noticed some similarities between the current generation controllers, or between them and the previous generations of controllers. So, how do they all tie together? Here’s how.
######
Australian Antarctic Division Picture Gallery: Think you got it bad with the snow? Try having to go into the freezer to warm yourself. Still, awesome pictures of the ice shelf down under from The Land Down Under.

In this online game you drive a little truck through some dirt mountains and hills. The goal is to not flip the truck over, and if you do, then to flip it back as soon as possible before your energe goes down. Playing instructions are easy: Up arrow -> Go forward; Down -> Go backward; Left arrow -> tilt back; Right arrow -> tilt forward.

The object of the game is to keep the ball from going off the top of the screen using the left and right arows. The game is simple, and for those who decide they’re not patient enough to play the easy levels, the medium and hard levels are addictingly fun. (Edit: If you’re using Linux, you might have some problems with the game. At this time, my computer running SUSE 9.1 doesn’t respond to the left/right arrows. My Windows box acts just fine, so for all 95% of you running Windows, you shouldn’t have any problems playing.)

In this game, you’re running away from impending doom. Remember those action sequences in movies where the heroes are running away from a building that is collapsing behind them, a big ball of fire chasing them, or in the case of The Day After Tomorrow, atmospheric conditions are seeking to freeze them. In this game, it’s the first of the three. Your job is to avoid the obstacles along the way: ghosts, tanks, giant lips, spears, happy faces… you get the drift. The instructions are in the game, so read and play.

You’re a helicopter pilot. Your mission: avoid crashing. The instructions are simple: click and hold the left-mouse button when you want to go up, let it go when you want to go down. The game’s fun, although it’s a bit frustrating at times. Post your high score!
