Logging In Now Required for Comments

Topic(s): Gnorb.NET Updates.

Due to the blog spam situation I’ve recently been attacked by (100+ spam postings per day), I’ve decided to require a login in order to comment. Sorry about the inconvenience, folks, but I’ve found myself accidentally deleting legitimate messages in the queue lately, and that’s just something I can’t allow.

Thank you for understanding. To register, go to http://www.gnorb.net/wp-register.php and… well, register. Again, sorry for the inconvenience. I’ll find a way to get things back to normal asap.

Edit: I’ve taken the login requirement off. As it turns out, requiring a login actually INCREASED the level of spam: 245 in one day. In any case, I’ve installed anti-spam software so hopefully that’ll help.

  1. Ahh..

I was trying to log in but i was evilly assaulted by the log in monster

  2. I heavily recommend using Spam Karma 2 for managing comment spam.

  3. Cool, I’ll take a look at it. I just activated the previously dormant Akisminet (sp?) plugin and will probably run that for a couple of days to see how it goes. If it’s not as good as I expect I’ll go on and try Spam Karma 2. Have you had a problem with blogspam yourself?
